No Stevie Wonder This Time

My sister and my son riding Gadget's Go Coaster in Toontown.

I have video footage of the time we saw Stevie Wonder riding this coaster back in the summer of 1993.

The Cute Boy Back In '87

Once upon a time I was a silly teenager.
I was standing in line for ... I want to say Casey Jr.  Anyway, I saw a cute boy walking by and decided to nonchalantly take a picture of him.  (He's in the yellow on the far left, just beneath the umbrella.)  I decided on the nonchalant approach for 2 reasons.  One, I didn't want to appear stalkerish.  Two, I didn't want my sister or her friend that was with us to notice, and then tease me about it.  Well, they noticed.  They heard the click of the camera (on my hot pink Le Clic camera) and asked me what I took a picture of.  I tried to play it off, saying something ridiculous like, "Hmmm, I don't know.  I guess I accidentally snapped a picture of nothing."  They didn't buy it.

I Miss These Guys

I only got to see the Delta Daddios perform in DCA during one trip.  I love doo wap music.  I wish they would bring back a similar group.

Cutest Bench Ever

These popsicle benches in Bug's Land are so clever.  I love the fading juice stains.

Who Knew A Garbage Can Could Make Me Cry???

During my return trip after the 13 year drought, I came across these garbage cans and started crying.  I was so happy to see something left untouched after all those years.

The Last Time

My husband and I went to Disneyland alone for a few days in November 2011.  This was the last time we got to ride like this on the Matterhorn.  All squished and cozy.  (I should say...the last time we got to ride together all squished and cozy.  Now we have to ride alone.  Still squished, but each in our own seat.)

Must-Have-Meal

I can't say enough about the deliciousness of this all-you-care-to-enjoy meal at Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue.   I have never gone for dinner, so I can't speak for the deliciousness of the smoked sausage or corn cob wheels, but I'm sure they're nothing to complain about.   The cole slaw is especially good since the dressing is vinegar-based rather than mayo-based.  There is often some down-home entertainment to enjoy as you eat.  But that can be awkward if no one is paying attention.

Happy Valentine's Day

Still waiting to meet a Disneyland cupcake that tastes as good as it looks...

I Have A Thing For Lights

During a trip about 5 years ago, I began to take notice of the light fixtures around Disneyland.
I love them.

Even The Tarps Are Themed

While The Emporium was closed and walled off, they put up tarps that made it look like business as usual.

Grandma's Need For Speed

Thinking of my mom today.

She is as Disneyland purist as they come.  She doesn't like change.  We were especially surprised when she rode Radiator Springs Racers for the first time and declared it her new favorite ride in all of the Disneyland Resort.  (What?!?  Something replaced her favorite for years...Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.)  It was especially funny since she's never seen the movie Cars and didn't have that connection.

She was 73.

"OK, I'll Go..."

My first trip back after the 13 year drought meant I'd have to split my Disneyland time with what I had been referring to as "the imposter park."  I didn't have anything in particular against this new-to-me park.  I'd just never had a desire to visit Disney California Adventure. (Which will be referred to as DCA from here on out.)  I've always been a Disneyland fan, but I thought everything was just fine the way it was. I loved walking through that big old parking lot. (Not so much at 1am after 15 hours in the park, dragging my Disneyland feet back to Eden Roc.) I'm just not one that is big on change when I like things as is. I could have easily stayed at Disneyland our whole trip and never hopped.  But...the rest of my family felt differently.

So we hopped over to DCA for the first time during the afternoon of our 2nd day.

This is a picture I took of Mickey Mouse as he copied what my then-3-year-old son was doing.  He wasn't a fan of meeting Mickey and immediately covered his eyes.  Mickey's handler told the Photopass Photographer, "Let me know if that wins photo of the day," as the photographer snapped a picture of Mickey and my son.

Hidden Mickey

I learned about this Hidden Mickey from the official Hidden Mickey book.

(Why does fruit taste better if it comes from a Disneyland Main Street cart?)

He didn't tease me about packing around wet wipes today, during a trip for just the two of us.
