I experienced a 13 year Disneyland drought as an adult. This is one of the first pictures I took upon my return. I remember standing at the end of Main Street, tears streaming from eyes hidden behind sunglasses, thinking, "I can't believe I finally made it back."
It was a trip of many firsts. First trip as "the mom," and having responsibilities like sitting out with a scared child while everyone else rides Splash Mountain. First trip watching my children discover that Disneyland magic. First trip during a different season other than summer. First time to see Disneyland dressed for Christmas. First time to use a FastPass. First time to stand in multiple ride lines for less than 15 minutes each (quite a treat, when standing in line to ride Pirates of the Caribbean for 90 minutes was my norm). First time to meet longtime Disneyland cast member Oscar Martinez (has been there since 1956) and try his famous loaded baked potato soup at Carnation Cafe. First time to see the Disneyland property with the imposter park next door. ("Wow, it looks so different without the huge parking lot...I wonder if I'll ever like that new park that replaced it?") And the list goes on.
